Land Surveying Renewable Energy Sector – Berrybank Windfarm Stage 2

Swanson Surveying have recently been engaged to provide engineering & civil surveying services to Stage 2 of the Berrybank Windfarm Project, located approximately halfway between Colac and Ballarat, near the townships of Cressy & Lismore. The project is being developed by Global Power Generation Australia and will provide 289.8 MW (stage 1 & 2 combined) of green energy to the grid via 69 Turbines (26 in Stage 2) for a total project cost of $284 Million.

Our roles on this site have included:

  • Installation and maintenance of the site survey control network
  • Initial set-out of works areas, turbine locations, and road/drainage alignments for review by client/s and landowners
  • Assistance in data capture and redesign of turbine, road & drainage positions/alignments
  • Preparation and installation of machine control files for Topcon, Trimble and Leica Machine control systems for 40+ excavators, graders, bulldozers and other plant on site
  • Turbine base setout including bulk earthworks, electrical conduit as-builts/conformance reporting, concrete & steel reinforcing setout & conformance reporting, Hold-down bolt setout & conformance reporting (pre & post concrete pour)
  • Road alignment set out for bulk earthworks, lime stabilisation, subgrade and final surface as-built conformance reporting
  • UAV drone data capture for use in volumes and civil infrastructure as-built reporting.
