Asset Recording – Melbourne-Geelong Pipeline (MGP) Upgrade

Swanson Surveying is proud to be contributing to the Melbourne-Geelong Pipeline (MGP) upgrade project, a significant infrastructure development led by Barwon Water. This major initiative is designed to bolster water security across the region, ensuring a reliable, high-quality supply for customers even under prolonged dry conditions.

As part of this large-scale project — valued between $20–30 million and involving a number of contractors and agencies — Swanson Surveying has been engaged to undertake critical surveying tasks at key locations including the Pettavel Basins in Waurn Ponds and Montpellier Basins in Highton.

Our experienced team is currently delivering a comprehensive suite of surveying services to support the construction and installation phases of the upgraded pipeline infrastructure:

  • Survey control establishment across project areas to ensure high-accuracy referencing throughout all stages of construction.
  • Construction setout for the water main and pump station alignment, facilitating precise on-site installation by construction crews.
  • As-constructed surveying to accurately capture the positioning of both new and existing pipelines. These detailed records are essential for Barwon Water’s asset management systems and ongoing operational planning.

Swanson Surveying are pleased to be collaborating on this critical project to ensure the resilience of the region’s water network and supports Victoria’s commitment to infrastructure development that benefits local communities and contributes to long-term environmental and resource sustainability.
